Still Waiting…

I’m still waiting for Smashwords to distribute Rift Riders to other retailers, like B&N and Kobo. No idea why it’s taking so long this time, but it seems like a general trend intended to mess with my head.

I’m also still waiting to find out what exactly is going on with Amazon and why Be With Me has been blocked from sale along with the plagiarised version.

Dragongift 1But in other news, Rift Riders has now been removed from here and Wattpad, except for the first three teaser chapters.

All of which means the Dragongift serial begins tomorrow!

(Ooh, look it’s all green and rugged.)

Just as a warning to anyone who hasn’t read Rift yet, pretty much anything to do with DG will be spoilery. I’ll try and put most of it behind cuts, so click at your own risk.

Updates this week will be Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, before returning to the regular Friday and Sunday schedule. More info and the prologue to come tomorrow.

I look forward to continuing the journey with you all from there.

Fast winds and clear skies, everyone!

Cover Love

ETA: I’ve tweaked them a tiny bit.

I’ve been playing around with covers over the last few days, in between bouts of editing and formatting, and I’ve landed on a few I’m happy with.

First up:

Blazing Dawn Cover 2

Everything seems set for a Friday release, though I do still have a few tweaks to make here and there. One of these days I might even be able to have an advanced release date and preorder links.

Then again, this is me, so probably not. That would mean being organised *gasp*

Anyway, here’s Khennik kin Blazeborn Clan Sunray, swirling about at dawn as is his preferred way of greeting the day. I know he doesn’t stand out too brilliantly, but that’s the problem with having a bronze dragon on this background. Also, since you can’t see him too clearly at thumbnail size anyway, I don’t really mind him blending in a bit.

I always have these grand ideas for covers, but frequently when I come to make them, I find they’re too cluttered and plain horrible looking. I might have gone completely the other way now with the Wingborn series, but I kind of like the new, cleaner style.

Wingborn Cover 2

I’m planning on using the wings to unify all the covers – like this:

Rift Rider Cover 8

I may have to tweak the colours again on this one. I’m not sure if it’s too pink, but since making it more red leaves it pretty overwhelming, on the whole I like it. For now.

Hope the week is treating you all kindly, wherever in the world you may be. I’ll no doubt be back at some point over the next few days to bug you about the dragon book. That is if I ever manage to write a blurb I’m happy with.

So there are these dragons, oh, and don’t forget the giant eagles and humans who fly them, ’cause they’re kind of important. There’s quite a bit of politics, lots of flying, a few sunrises, some fun and games, oh, and danger, and don’t forget the stormy stuff. There might even be a romance or two bubbling in the background. Seriously, what more do you want? A nervous water dragon? I have one of those. A stubborn rock dragon? Yup, that too. How about a grumpy dragon hero and a shy but determined human heroine? And a handful of playful, foolish, flirty Riders. Well, good, ’cause that’s what I’ve got. Want to read?

I’ll keep working on it.

September Tidings

Cover_1 Sisters of Icarus
Sisters of Icarus is coming!

Well, sort of. I’ve finished another edit of it and will soon start my final run through. Then, hopefully, I will be able to throw it out into the world on September 15th!

<— This is the cover as it currently stands. I may change it, I haven’t decided yet. At the moment I like it, but my views are always likely to change after a day or two.

Any feedback, opinions or views on it are always welcome.

Cover_2 Crying Child

I’m also about a third of the way through my first draft of The Crying Child.

My original plan was to release this a month after Sisters, but real-life keeps poking holes in all my plans so I’ll have to see if I can pull if off.

If nothing unexpected pops up to ruin my month, I’m fairly sure I can do it, but the unexpected has rather taken over this year so I guess I can only try my best and hope that will be enough.

Cover_3 Icarus Child

Whenever that does make its way into the world, I will then turn my attention to the last of the trilogy – The Icarus Child – which currently has a wishful release date of November 15th. However, see above for excuses why that might not happen.

Whatever befalls my writing and editing schedules, I just wanted to let people know that they are being written and edited and thought about a lot right now, and will be coming. Hopefully before the end of the year.

Look, they already have covers and everything! This is almost as good as a release from me – not that I usually leave my covers to the last minute or anything. Nope. Not me. (And yes, I know, they’re kind of blue, but that works with the story. All photos are mine as well, just in case anyone wondered. Apologies once again to Portland Bill for turning you into the island.)

So, those are my exciting plans for this month. Anyone out there got anything good going on?
