It’s Aquila’s War Weekend!

We’re back! Despite the longer than usual wait, Mhysra, Lyrai, Mouse & Co are back and raring to go. Time to kick things off with updates across the weekend!

Aquila's War Cover 1But first, a few quick things before we begin.

  • The Storm Wings ebook is released on Sunday, but you can pre-order it now.
  • I’m removing the rest of Storm Wings from here today, but you have until tomorrow morning if you’re reading on Wattpad.
  • As with the rest of this series (apart from Wingborn) Aquila’s War will only be free for a limited time. I won’t be taking it down until after the end, though, I promise.
  • Spoiler warning! If you haven’t read Rift Riders, Dragongift or Storm Wings everything about this book will spoil you, so be careful before clicking on any cuts. The blurb lies below this one.
  • Usual update schedule of Fridays and Sundays begins next week. However, if you’d like to read more now, my Patreon readers get early access and are a month ahead.

And with that out of the way, welcome to the fifth Wingborn book!

Storm Wings is Coming

Official release is Sunday, but you can pre-order it now for .99! The price will rise on Monday, so get in quick while it’s cheap :)

Storm Wings Cover 1

Trouble covers the Overworld and the Rift Riders seem further from home than ever, but there is hope in the darkness, even if the road to recovery is long.

For the first time in more than a century, dragons have returned to the human lands, but their numbers are few and their welcome is… difficult. If Mhysra, Lyrai and their friends were expecting a heroes’ welcome on their return, they may have a long time to wait.

In the West, Stirla and Derrain have their own troubles to deal with, thanks to a determined princess and some foolhardy nobles. Not to mention the opinions and intentions of their superiors.

And at Aquila, Lord Yullik waits for the fight he knows will come. Yet all the while an unseen threat moves in the shadows. New dangers stir across the mountain, but whether for good or evil, only the gods of this cursed world can tell…

September Catch Up

Where did September go? What happened? I had all these beautiful plans laid out, the next thing I know I have one week left and no book… Meep.

  • There’s just over one week left to pre-order Storm Wings for .99 on Amazon.
  • Aquila’s War is coming!

  • Cloud Cursed is going up in price next week.

Wednesday Round Up

I feel like I’ve been busier than usual of late, so here’s a quick link post to recap it all.

First, Cloud Cursed is out! And still at its low introductory price of 0.99 (or the lowest equivalent I could list it at). Grab it while it’s cheap.

Or sign up to my Patreon before this Friday and get it for free!

Speaking of Patreon, if you take a look over there right now you’ll find a couple of posts unlocked for everyone to read:

There are also plenty of posts that are locked for only my Patrons to see.

And that’s it for the moment. I’m currently taking a few days off to reset my brain before diving into Storm Wings edits, but I did read through Wingborn #6 the other day and found it less awful than I thought, which was nice. I’m also getting a much clearer idea of how the Dragonlands series is going to turn out and a few more Goryal Adventure ideas.

Here’s hoping your own September is working out as well.

Take care, my lovelies.

Cloud Cursed

A year and a day after Storm Rising, may I present to you…Cloud Cursed 3

After five hundred years of drowning the Overworld, the Cloud Curse is changing. In their arrogance and complacency many dragons thought they were safe, but no longer. The Curse has shifted course and is attacking each dragon Clan in different and insidious ways. Elder Khennik kin Blazeborn is determined to stop it, but in the vast libraries of Spire Heights it’s hard to know where to begin – or who to trust.

Spire Heights offers the Rift Riders a different threat: boredom. With no trade treaties to negotiate and few feasts to attend, the ambassador doesn’t really need them, leaving the humans with far too much time on their hands. Still, Lieutenant Nera is confident that for once she can keep out of trouble, because surely nothing dangerous ever happens in a library…

Return to the Dragonlands as curses, conspiracies, friends and foes combine in the Riders’ most mysterious adventure yet.

What’s Coming Up?

I know it’s been a while, so for anyone short on time here are the main points about which I’ll ramble more below.

  • Cloud Cursed (Dragonlands #3) will finally be released on September 7th!
  • Storm Riders (Wingborn #4) will follow on October 5th. The free serial posts will also be removed then, because…
  • Aquila’s War (Wingborn #5) serial will start, here and Wattpad, on October 5th!
  • If, however, you cannot wait that long, I will start posting it on Patreon from next Friday, August 31st!

That’s the short stuff out of the way. Now for the detail.

Cloud Cursed 3This book has been a very long time coming, for which I can only apologise. This year hasn’t gone at all the way I planned, but I’m trying very hard to get back on track.

Full information and pre-order links will hopefully go up next week, along with the first few chapters.

It will also be on offer: $.99 for all pre-orders and the first week of release. Thank you for being patient!

The omnibus version of books 1-3 will follow in the next few months, so if you’d rather wait for all three at once (Blazing Dawn, Storm Rising and Cloud Cursed), you can.

Storm Wings Cover 1

Thanks also go to everyone who read through Storm Wings. I truly appreciate each and every one of you!

Pre-order links will go up after Cloud Cursed is finished with, and it will also be on offer until release day. I don’t normally like having my releases so close together, but I couldn’t delay Cloud Cursed any longer.

Aquila's War Cover 1I hope you’re as excited for the next phase of Mhysra & Co’s journey as I am. Unlike books 1-4, which I wrote years ago and haven’t really changed, Aquila’s War and World’s End were both written within the last year. I really hope you like it.

As mentioned above, I’m starting a Patreon page offering early access to AW, along with plenty of other things. The page itself isn’t ready yet, but I’ll let you know as soon as it is.

It isn’t exclusive – not for the Wingborn series – because I totally understand that not everyone can pay for it. However, I will have plenty of other fun and exclusive things for those who can and/or want to support my writing in this way.

And that’s about it for the moment. Proper links and things will follow in due course. It’s going to be a busy couple of months for me, but I also hope to get firmly back into writing at some point so that by the time NaNoWriMo rolls around I’ll be ready for it.

In the meantime, thanks for sticking around. I hope life and the universe are treating you kindly.

Take care, my lovelies!

Spring Forth!

A little later than planned, spring is finally springing up all around me, and I’ve at last compiled the first three Wingborn books into one handy box set! Which I’ve rather snappily titled Wingborn Series Volume 1: Wingborn, Rift Riders and Dragongift.

Wingborn Boxset 2If you haven’t bought them yet, or you just prefer to have them all rounded up in one easy to find file, then this is for you, my friend.

It’s available at – or soon will be – all the usual places, and there’s a bit of a discount on the individual list prices, so hopefully someone will find it a bargain.

Smashwords || B&N || iBooks || Kobo
Amazon: US || UK || AUS || CAN || DE

I’ve also updated the individual books. Mostly typo-catching and tidying up a few mistakes here and there. Like the massive mistake I’d been writing with for years and hadn’t even noticed – that Half-Year wasn’t actually at the half year point because I had my months mixed up *headdesk* But I’ve fixed it now and the year ends a month later than it used to. Possibly no one would ever have noticed, but I did and it’s been bugging me ever since.

The uploads went nice and smooth until the last one, when I really should have remembered that uploading anything to Smashwords is usually best done in the morning. Otherwise it seems to take ages and weird little errors creep in here and there for no apparent reason. Particularly in Rift Riders. I don’t know what it is with that book, but by the time I called it a night, I was pretty much sobbing like Gollum.

Gollum I hate you gifAnd when I checked my email a little later to find that it had already started shipping to all the other non-Smashwords sites in the fastest approval I’ve ever had… let’s just say I wasn’t exactly gleeful.

Thankfully it was a pretty easy fix, so no hobbits needed to be harmed. This time.

Anyway that’s another thing ticked off the list. Next up will be finishing the Wingborn Aftermath novella, then a return to the Dragonlands to write book 4, edit 1-3, relaunch the series and release book 3. I’m also getting vague ideas for a foundation of Aquila tale, but I think I already have enough on my plate so it might have to stay vague a little while longer. It might also be nice to write something away from the Overworld for a change.

Plus there are dogs to walk, cats to cuddle, orchids to rescue, gardens to revive and the usual mix of real life worries and dramas to deal with. Which means life is pretty much continuing as usual really.

I hope that, wherever you are in the world, life is treating you kindly and the seasons are turning in expected and manageable ways. Have a good weekend, everyone!
